Hourglass Exchange
JeanSue Burnett, Sue B's Quilting, Wellington, New Zealand
56" x 80"
A very simple colour recipe was used in the formation of this quilt - and it
has worked so very well. The cream background really makes the piecing
design show and has the added advantage of leaving a great canvas for
quilting.
For the cream areas Sue chose was a swirling point to point one - which meant she could click her way around them quite quickly. In the 'chains' Sue also decided upon another p2p pattern - this time one with simple lines - so as not to over-power the piecing design. For the stars which were formed with the grouping of 4 hourglass blocks Sue found a pattern in the same family as the one used in the chains, so everything tied together very nicely.
