patchwork pattern from Jaybird Quilts
Sheryl came to one of my classes at Jukebox Quilts in Fort Collins, CO. and quickly realised that this quilt she had waiting could be completed using point to point (p2p) patterns.
The hexagons had been constructed in such a way that the center part of the hex is exactly half the width of the full hex and - as Sheryl discovered - I had patterns drawn for exactly that occasion. As can be seen, the design element in the central white areas is quite different to that in the surrounding coloured areas. Then there was a little bitty p2p pattern for the remaining triangles.
I love this quilt, and am quite inspired to make one myself! I particularly like how each of the hexagons have 2 shades of the same colour. It gives real movement.
Now that Sheryl has found the joy of using p2p patterns in this situation, as more quilts arrived in from the store customers, quilting them is going to be fun.
