Patchwork of the Crosses (POTC)
RaynaSue B's Quilting, Wellington, New Zealand
Rayna handpieced this magnificent quilt while recovering from a hip replacement operation.
Using pieces of the border fabric in each of the blocks meant they all coordinated very well even though each block is quite different to any of the other ones. The crisp white frames makes them stand out even further and allowed the quilting to really show in that area.
Rayna is gifting this quilt to her parents for their wedding anniversary.
When Sue received this top for quilting she immediately decided that some special quilting patterns were required - and I had lots of fun drawing them, in the end drawing quite a few options for these shapes. I think the ones chosen work just so well.
This quilt is a reproduction of the quilt made by Lucy Boston of Hemingwood Grey.
Linda Franz of Inklingo published the quilt pattern calling it Patchwork of the Crosses. She has also developed an accurate, quick and easy method for cutting the patches for the blocks.

ps: I took a lot of photos - it was just so interesting to see how each of the blocks looked!
