Sarah's Crossed Kayaks

Judi had fun making this quilt using as many blue fabrics as she could find.
Her sister Sarah enjoys canoeing - so the Crossed Kayaks block in blue fabrics seemed very appropriate. It has a little yellow - for all those sunny days with red depicting the lovely sunsets out on the water.
Judi helped with the drawing up of the quilting designs in the block area. She did not want 'too much quilting'. In doodling we quite quickly found that an outline of someone sitting in a canoe rowing was happening. After refining that idea the concept was advanced further with some nice big waves being drawn for the areas alongside the canoes.
Initially - I wanted more waves in there, but Judi and her daughter were firm - two would do!
Once quilted all was clear - each of those two waves occurred in the separate areas of fabric which made up the triangle.

The back of the quilt was significant with the Judi piecing the central area from their late mother's clothes. She went on to add a label which was framed with pieces from their father's ties. A real memory quilt!

- Around the edges of the blocks: Waves tri p2p
