Welcome Aboard
Sharon PerryTraditional variation - but will put up pattern as it is useful to know how much material is required for the sashing and border.
This was a fun quilt to make. It was for my new sister-in-law and I knew she liked purple and bright.
The other important event in her life was that she was now living on a catamaran. I spent quite some time going through my stash of 5" squares to choose fabrics to fit with the colour scheme and incorporating some 'going to sea' ideas.
Wanting to keep the whole quilt fresh I decided to go with a white on white print for the sashing, and would you believe it - I found the perfect border fabric after completing the sewing of the inner.
The quilting was quick in the sashes (with the builders) - but I did not check the tension early enough - so that had to be unpicked and redone! However, I was pleased with the final result (and the needle holes will surely work out with wear).
